Happy weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love. I have really been loving the coral trend in both interiors and fashion. I put a nautical inspired look together today, around a pretty coral blouse!

I think of soft, feminine pastels for summer, and this blouse was the perfect starting point! To give a nautical inspired touch, I fell in love with these anchor earrings and knew they had to be included in this outfit. I picture this to be a pretty beach outfit that can easily translate to dinner out, so flat sandals and a chic tote are practical yet also fun. I love the tie dyed look of this maxi skirt, too! Soft and light accessories round out this look for a fun filled, beach weekend! To shop this look, click on 'Nautical Inspired' below the outfit!

Happy weekend and welcome to Fashion Friday... my other design love. Yesterday's gorgeous kitchen and sitting area inspired the look of this outfit. The color black anchors a room, and it works the same way with an outfit. It's my go to color in fashion and always looks great on everyone!

My favorite part of creating outfits is picking out the accessories. There are so many beautiful pieces out there that can compliment an outfit. I am always drawn to playful, whimsical jewelry that makes the ensemble more fun and laid back. And I'm loving the bright, skinny jean trend lately and need to pick myself up a pair. I used a lot of black in this outfit to help balance the bright jeans. I also like to do the same with interior design. If there's a bright color in the space, I try to mix in some subtle, neutral tones for balance.

And now on to Fashion Friday... my other design love. Yesterday's space was fun, modern and had a great color combination of aqua and orange. Today's outfit was inspired by that color palette-

I had so much fun putting this outfit together, because the colors remind me of summer! The best time to go bright and bold is in the summer months and what better way to start than with this fun maxi skirt. I have to invest in a couple of these this summer, because they are comfortable and transition so well from daytime to dinner. Here, it's paired with a fun striped tank top and eternity scarf. The Tory Burch sandals and Michael Kors ring bring a fun and colorful vibe to the outfit. Top it off with a bright clutch and sunglasses and you're ready for anything!

Fashion Friday - Summer Blush

Yay, it's the weekend! Welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love. Today's outfit is all about the feminine, blush colors of summer. I was inspired by yesterday's floral fabric on the wingback chairs, so I knew I wanted to include a floral print of some kind in this outfit. Enjoy!

This outfit is all about mixing the highs and lows. I started with this pretty H&M skirt and paired it with a Tibi collared blouse. I love these blush pinks, corals and creams for summer! The accessories are fun, whimsical and compliment the feminine vibe going on in this outfit. (I even found this little elephant wearing some coral!) The quilted shoulder bag also goes in theme with the light color palette, making it a soft outfit for the season.

Happy weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love. Today's look is all about a chic, relaxing style for summer. I imagine open sandals, flowing skirts and comfortable fabrics to beat the summer heat.

This is my kinda outfit! I love to be comfortable, and starting with sandals, a tank top and a flowing skirt works for me! As interiors as well as outfit ensembles, it's fun to create a balance of high and low. This Derek Lam skirt easily works with earrings from etsy and sunglasses from H&M. I love using color in my summer wardrobe and this mix of bright yellow with blue and red is a fun way to start!

I was inspired by yesterday's office space and thought these bright skinny jeans were a great starting point. I then thought of the hints of black in the space, grounding the room, so I found these black sandals and jewelry to ground the outfit. After that, I went off on a tangent and veered away from yesterday's space, to a whole beach inspired look. I found this beautiful straw beach bag, which would be the perfect catchall for summer apparel. Then the fun shirt, scarf and sunglasses finish off this summer look.

Fashion Friday - Crazy for Bangs!

I wanted to start this post by saying Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful and inspiring mothers out there, including my sweet and supportive mom! I have turned out like my mom in so many ways, which I'm proud to say!  :)

I am loving the bang trend lately, and am thinking about cutting bangs again! I have long brown hair right now and thinking of adding some layers and bangs to the front. I do have a pesky cowlick in the front that will bother me a bit, but I can't help but give it another try and cut them again! After all, hair always grows and there's always the option of pinning them back, right??? Here are some great inspiration images via pinterest. This is the direction I am thinking of going...

Happy Weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love. This summer inspired outfit reminds me of yesterday's cheery and fun master bedroom space.

Color and Pattern by simpledwellings2

This outfit, like yesterday's room, has personality, color and pattern. I started this ensemble with the bright yellow pants! I wanted to go bold with the pants and help anchor the outfit, similar to the way the tufted headboard anchored the space. When I found the striped top, it instantly reminded me of the blue and white flame stitch pillows in the room. The bedroom space had various shades of blues mixed in with yellows and greens. I thought this scarf helped to also tie in the outfit's colors like the duvet did in the room. The accessories in this outfit are fun and reminiscent of a casual summer day. And in yesterday's space, the cheerful, eclectic vibe made you feel right at home and relaxed.

Happy weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love! Yesterday's living space was warm, inviting and super stylish. The room had soft, netral colors with hints of fun, geometric patterns. Today, I tried to replicate that feel in an outfit!

I loved yesterday's soft, neutral palette. To recreate this look with fashion, I immediately thought of a spring outfit, with warm pastels! The wedge heels have a hint of pink on the inside, and that is replicated in the casual blazer. The patterns on the skirt and clutch reminded me of the geometric designs in the room's occasional chairs and pillows. The jewelry here is soft and doesn't compete with the outfit, similar to the subtle moments in the space. The clutch stands out as a showpiece and makes me think of that amazing art above the fireplace mantel!

Happy weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love! Yesterday's office space was beautiful, comfortable and practical. So, this outfit was easy for me to put together, because I always dress for practicality and comfort! I could look at gorgeous heels and chic dresses all day long, but the fact is that I love to be comfortable!  :) So here's my fashion interpretation of yesterday's room!

But who says comfortable can't also be stylish? Starting this outfit off with a pair of fun flats works for me (and my feet!) I love the look of skinny jeans with a long cardigan, to help with balance. The pop of green with the top is fun and feels like spring to me! The jewelry is eclectic, mixing different stlyes, just like yesterday's room. And the clutch was unique with its wood veneer... very reminiscent of the gorgeous farm table in the office space.

Happy Weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I discuss my other design love! Yesterday's room was full of warmth, neutrals and loads of texture. While this outfit may be a bit bolder than neutral, I thought it reflected some casual warmth too!

This outfit began with Rachel Zoe's beautiful flowing skirt. It was a great jumping off point for casual warmth! Pairing it with a sparkly top and flats helps to add some texture and interest. I wanted to balance all of that sparkle with a simple and fun cardigan. The soft colors in the accessories is a nod to the neutral palette in yesterday's family room. The detailed pearls on the clutch helps to add some extra texture to the outfit. And the feather inspired earrings stay warm and neutral, yet add another hint of texture.

This outfit might have been better to post in the fall or early winter, but since it's still cold here, I thought I would show you my outfit interpretation of yesterday's space. The living room from yesterday's post was casual, with a hint of chic and had a relaxed, equestrian vibe. I thought this outfit also has a similar effect:

This outfit starts with equestrian style riding boots and is paired with skinny jeans for a comfortable, practical look. The bag is also very casual and can hold a lot for the girl on the move! The comfy sweater and animal inspired vest reflect the simple and chic style of yesterday's space. And the jewelry is fun, with a hint of glam!

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to find a room and outfit inspired by the whimsical colors of the holiday! With hues of pinks included in main living spaces, I can only take it in small doses. This room strikes the perfect balance for me... enjoy!

When you tire of this vibrant color, it can easily be switched out in this room- the pillows, art, lamp shade and flowers can be traded out for several other colors. This space has a very versatile color palette and allows so many other choices in the future. I love that the walls, seating and area rug are very neutral and light, allowing the gold and magenta to take center stage! The black detail in the armchair, bench and coffee table ground the space so well. The small touch of chrome in the end table makes the space feel sleek and stylish, while the subtle details of stripes in the area rug and zebra on the bench add texture and interest. Overall, this space works!

For this outfit, I stuck with the same color palette of gold, magenta and black. I thought it would be fun to also include an animal print blouse, since the living space had such an amazing zebra hide bench. And with the weather feeling like spring in so many places right now, why not make this a spring inspired outfit!

The space was layered with texture, interest, bright pops of color and a timeless style. So, I thought I would try and create that look, in an outfit! (I must be wishing for spring to come soon, with these last posts!)

Inspired by Green by simpledwellings2

Yesterday's lakeside retreat was fun, relaxing and full of color! This outfit is a bold interpretation of that! We start with the green blazer, which reminds me so much of the green used in yesterday's space. In the dining room, the bright pop was balanced with subtle neutral hues and a little hint of a salmon, coral color. So, I found this adorable coral clutch and ring which also adds another fun color to the outfit. The soft creams and tans in the lace blouse and heels reflect the airiness in yesterday's wall and sofa colors. The inspiration space had a touch of black to anchor the room, which this skirt and earrings also do in this outfit. The ring and bracelet give a nod to the shiny, sparkly elements in the room, such as the beautiful chandeliers. With all of these cheerful inspirations, maybe spring will come early!

I am super excited! The rooms are next to each other, and I can't wait to tie them together by having them both the same paint color! These rooms have been dark for so long, and I am excited for a major change! This color is Alaskan Husky by Benjamin Moore.

The girl who wears this is ready for a glamourous night of cocktails! I love this faux fur coat by Michael Kors. It definitely sets the bar high for a beautiful outfit to follow. This sequined dress and clutch are fun and sparkly and are toned down by simple black pumps. The jewelry is a mix of restrained and glamourous, trying to create a balance of classic with over the top glam.

Here's to a simple and glamourous weekend, whatever you do!

With this outfit, the overall color palette is neutral- yet with different patterns and textures, I wanted to create a layered, eclectic look. The soft textures in the blouse and cardigan play off of the rugged leather jacket. The print on the ballet flats is paired with another print in the clutch, yet the colors are neutral, keeping the outfit from being too busy. The jewlery is layered, giving an eclectic and acquired over time look. Yesterday's room was a mix of different styles and pattern, and an outfit can be the same way!

Happy weekend and welcome to the series Fashion Friday... where I show an outfit inspired by interior design! I really liked the soothing and simple color palette of yesterday's room, so I thought I would show my outfit interpretation of the space!

Yesterday's great room was filled with hues of white, gray and black- with a hint of red! So I did the same with this fashion interpretation- the base of the outfit has black leggings, with a simple black and white striped shirt and gray cardigan. Simple and comfortable... and who doesn't look great in black?!? White, gray and black are almost always in my outfits, so this was a simple task for me! The gray suede boots are a splurge and add just a hint of red at the bottom. Aren't Louboutins on everyone's wish list??? This is an imaginary outfit, so why not splurge a little! The red bag also ties in the accessory color and gives the outfit some life. The snake earrings are a whimsical touch and reminded me of the animal art that was in yesterday's space.

With all of the holiday hustle bustle, I have taken a little break from the regular weekly series posts. So, I thought it would be fun to return Fashion Friday with a holiday inspired outfit!

I love the look of cable knit and especially love cream colored accessories and clothes in the winter! I like to start with a base of skinny jeans, paired with big boots and warm sweaters. Then, I layer in a fun coat and handbag and finish off the look with a winter white hat, plaid scarf and earrings that look like little bows! (Santa- are you listening???)

Why This Works - Hilary Swank's Living Room and Fashion Friday

Welcome to the series Why This Works... where I highlight a designed space and talk about why (I think) it works so well. This week's space is Hilary Swank's living room and was seen in Elle Decor. The space was designed by Mark Zeff.

This space has a modern, casual vibe that I love! The cool colors on the wall, pillows and dining chairs works well paired with the greenery in the room. The dark wood floors are elegant and allow the neutral rug to really pop. The dramatic lamp shades on the floor lamps give a modern, sleek and industral feel, while the drapery and plants warm up the space. There is a great balance of light and dark neutrals in this space, allowing your eye to really move around the room. The tall ceilings and oversized windows allow the natural light in, giving you an amazing view! The side and coffee tables are versatile and can easily be moved in a different spot, to allow more flow when entertaining. Overall, this space works! And lately, I have been featuring more rooms with lighter walls- could this be the direction I am going?
